Demonstration by our shooting sports 4-H leader (Cloverbud Ryan’s Dad)  They will also be providing snack.  Cloverbuds will have juices available.

Project Help and Practice Sessions

Clothing Construction/Quilting/Decorate Your Duds: Tuesday after school at Extension office.

Photography: Every other Wednesday after school at Extension office.

Leathercraft: Every other Wednesday after school at Extension office.

Baking Beginners or Advanced: Every other Thursday at Nadine’s kitchen/house.

Shooting Sports: Archery orientation Tuesday, March 26, 6:30 p.m. at Extension office.

Model Rocketry: Dan Lindahl will start soon. Give Dan a call (765-5360) so he can arrange a time for the first session.

Rabbits: Starting soon.

Check the 4-H Calendar for schedules.

Archery Orientation

Members taking the archery project, parents, leaders (past and new), and anyone interested in 4-H Archery should attend the orientation meeting March 26, 6:30 p.m. at the Extension office. Contact Nadine with questions, 641-1260.

Quality Assurance Programs will be offered in April. Schedule and details to come.

Horse Members

Get rested up and geared up. New activities and opportunities are coming your way.  Check the 4-H Calendar. We try to keep it up to date. A Horse Member packet will be sent to all Horse members with info and registration forms to the events.

June 11-12       4-H Horse Camp

June 22            4-H Schooling Show

July 6               4-H Horse Show

Also, now is a good time to invest in working on your levels certification. Take your Horse Levels written tests! Make an appointment with Nadine to take your test. If you feel you need to study then become real familiar with your horse manual. If you don’t have a horse manual then pick one up at the Extension office. Information is located at

Livestock and Horse Project Manuals

Member manuals and resources for your livestock project are available for your taking in the Extension office. Manuals for beef, swine, lamb, goat, rabbit, poultry, dog and horse are excellent resources for raising and feeding your animal and completing your record book.

Livestock Sales, Prospect Shows, Field Days

The Extension Office is starting to receive information on Livestock Sales and Prospect Shows and Field Days from all across the state. Stop by and check out the flyers and information.

Gunnison County 4-H Council Meeting

March 27.

6:30 p.m.

Mergelmen 4-H Building

Any officers, leaders, club reps, members, and parents can attend.  We will have an activity on demonstration and public speaking skills.

Wyatt Lehmann will be shooting video with any and all who wish to share their “What is Your H?” story. Gifts to those who participate. Come just to do this if you want.

Club Fundraiser Opportunity

The Gunnison Kiwanis Club has a great and unique idea for a club fund raiser. Please contact Paul Buck, 641-2882, if you are interested. It involves used salt blocks. Now that you are curious you have to call him! Or, you can contact Nadine at 641-1260.

District 9 & 10 Retreat

4-H members from Delta, Hinsdale, Gunnison, Mesa, Montrose, Ouray, San Miguel are joined by members from Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, and San Juan for a fun filled weekend of 4-H activities on April 12-14 in Montrose. Transportation will be provided. Check details at

New: Grand Canyon Challenge!

Hike the Grand Canyon and gain a memory for a lifetime. We will join the 4-H group from Apache County Arizona. Trip is scheduled for May 3-5. The hike is a challenge and some hiking training is needed so your interest and commitment is needed by April 1. Trip will have minimal cost and be fully guided. Please contact Nadine if you are interested.
