COUNCIL OPPORTUNITIES

October 6, 2013

Big, Big Meeting on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m.
We are starting earlier because we have lots to do. Dinner will be provided!

This is our council officer election meeting. If you are planning on running for an office you must have a completed Officer Application before the meeting starts. All nominees need to be prepared to give their reasons for why they want to be an officer. And here are some reasons why you should want to be one.
 4-H has been very, very good to you. Here is a way to step up and give back
 Guarantee you will also gain something back–new skills, increased confidence, admiration, and sense of accomplishment.
 Looked at a college or scholarship application yet? 4-H club and council leadership roles slide very nicely into the blanks and essays where it asks for involvement and offices held.

Come and get involved. We will also be selecting the Leader of the Year. Reminder to clubs: please have at least four people in attendance to cast ballots (three members and an enrolled leader).

National Western Stock Show Looking for Calf Catchers

The National Western Stock Show Catch-A-Calf Program is a great program designed to promote youth development and understanding of the cattle industry. This program can provide youth with an opportunity to be part of one of the best programs at the National Western Stock Show. Youth who choose to participate in contest may have a range of experiences raising, feeding and showing beef cattle, all are acceptable. Applicants must be between the ages of 12 and 18 as of December 31, 2013 to apply; they must also be enrolled in 4-H at the time of application. Successful catchers must have adequate facilities available to house their steer as they are responsible for the care, feeding, and handling of their animal. The applications to participate in this year’s Catch-a-Calf program at the NWSS are now available on line at http://www.nationalwestern.com/catch-a-calf/
Contact Eric or Nadine if you have any questions. Experienced CAC participants Haley Roper and Grace Delany can also answer questions.
